Inverge Tech develops and manages invergejournals.com, the platform behind the Inverge Journal of Social Sciences (IJSS) — a double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal recognised by Pakistan's Higher Education Commission in Category "Y". We own the whole stack: the Open Journal Systems build, the Crossref DOI pipeline, the indexing footprint, issue production and the day-to-day editorial desk.

Open Journal Systems build
A hardened OJS 3.3 installation with the full double-blind submission-to-publication workflow configured — sections, roles, review forms and decision routing.
Crossref DOI pipeline
Prefix 10.63544 registered and wired into OJS, so every issue and every article is minted a persistent DOI and deposited at publication.
Indexed in 27 services
OAI-PMH, citation meta tags and clean article landing pages, so Crossref, Google Scholar, BASE, OpenAlex, Dimensions.ai and 22 more harvest the journal without manual re-entry.
Run, not just hosted
We operate the editorial desk too — intake, review coordination, production and release, issue after issue on a bi-monthly cadence.

What had to be true.

The constraints that shaped every decision that follows.

Be citable, not merely online
A journal without persistent identifiers and index coverage is invisible to the researchers it is written for. Everything had to be built so a paper is findable, citable and permanently addressable the day it publishes.
Survive scrutiny
HEC recognition and index acceptance both turn on evidence: a real double-blind process, published policies, a named editorial board, a consistent cadence and honest archiving. The platform had to make that evidence visible, not claimed.
Run without a publisher back office
There is no in-house production department. The software and the process have to carry the load so a small editorial team can move a manuscript from submission to indexed article.

What we built

The build in detail.

Journal setup & editorial workflow
OJS configured for a genuine double-blind process: anonymised review rounds, structured review forms, section policies, decision templates and the notification chain the whole workflow depends on.
Custom theme & journal identity
A branded theme with custom stylesheet and font overrides, cover artwork carrying the ISSN block (online 2959-4359, print 3007-2018), the HEC Category "Y" badge and a scannable QR code that resolves to the live journal.
Ten maintained policy pages
Peer Review Policy, APC, Advisory Board, Editorial Team, Copyright Policy, Plagiarism Policy, Repository Policy, Complaints, Indexing & Abstracting and Contact — each a first-class page inside OJS, not a PDF nobody opens.
Persistent identifiers
DOIs minted per issue and per article in the form 10.63544/ijss.v5i4.310, deposited to Crossref automatically, so citations resolve even if a URL changes.
Discovery & harvesting plumbing
An OAI-PMH endpoint plus Google Scholar-compatible metadata, which is what turns one journal website into records inside twenty-seven separate discovery systems.
Editorial board tooling
Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, Editor and a 20-strong review-editor pool set up with the right roles and permissions, so assignment is a click rather than an email thread.
Feeds for libraries and readers
Atom, RSS 1.0 and RSS 2.0 for both journal content and announcements, so new issues are pushed to aggregators instead of waiting to be found.
APC & waiver handling
A published Rs. 25,000 PKR (approx. $100 USD) charge levied only on acceptance — free to submit — with documented partial and full waivers for authors in World Bank low-income economies.

Issue production
Cover art, article ordering, page numbering, galley PDFs, issue metadata and scheduling — every issue assembled and released by us.
Submission triage & screening
Intake from the OJS portal and the support inbox, completeness and scope checks, similarity screening, and desk decisions before anything reaches a reviewer.
Peer review coordination
Reviewer matching from the review-editor pool, invitation and reminder cycles, and shepherding revision rounds through to a decision.
Copyediting, layout & proofing
Language editing, template compliance, reference formatting and final author proofs before a galley is locked.
DOI deposits & index upkeep
Crossref deposits verified issue by issue, records kept current across the indexing services, and re-submission where a directory requires periodic renewal.
Platform maintenance & uptime
OJS point upgrades, PHP and database maintenance, backups, spam control and email deliverability — the unglamorous work that keeps a journal credible.
